That’s what led me to living out my childhood dream of playing in the National Hockey League, and that’s what drives me today as my team and I work passionately to build the best adventure community in the world!

Whether it’s through a group adventure together, or just curating your dream getaway, I aim to have a positive impact on your life by assisting in creating enriching experiences and fostering lasting memories.

Hi, I’m Brooks Laich! Many of you may know me from my previous career as a professional hockey player, or maybe we’re just meeting now for the first time. Either way, I want to say welcome to World Playground – and if you like to adventure as much as I do, then you’ve come to the right place!

The Story Behind Our Name
When I was playing in the NHL, I would get asked for my autograph by kids and fans nearly every single day. Just signing my name seemed boring to me, so I decided to add in a little message above my signature…
To ______,
The world is your playground!
Your friend,
The intent with my message was to inspire those who received it. To help them see the world as a place of “play” regardless if they were still a child or not. The more I wrote it, the more I loved it. And those 2 words, “world” and “playground” just kept resonating with me, so much so that I knew I wanted to do something with them at some point in life. So, in 2015, I got @worldplayground across all social media platforms, and just held them until 2020 rolled around and I decided to turn my passion for adventure into my next career!
After a quick discussion with my colleague Jeff Shafar, we both agreed that the name “World Playground” was just perfect for what we wanted to build. An adventure company, heck even more than that – an adventure community!
So now, and forever more, I say to you “the world is our playground!”
The only question is, where are we going to next?

The Inspiration For Our Logo
Meet Koda! Koda is my dog, he is a 6-year old Siberian Husky, and just the most handsome guy in the world! I absolutely love this guy more than I could ever communicate, and I am so lucky to have him in my life! Koda is the inspiration for our logo, and here’s the story behind it.
In 2018, with rescue shelters in Los Angeles overflowing and the looming threat of putting some dogs down due to over-population, a friend of mine adopted a female husky from a shelter, and told me that her new companion had a brother at the shelter as well, and that I should adopt him. I wasn’t really looking for a dog at the time, but said I would at least meet him and go from there. It couldn’t have gone any better.
Shortly after meeting him, I decided to take him on a run. So I grabbed his leash, and we hit the trails. We ran for 4-miles through the LA canyons and he stayed right by my side the entire way! The very next day, I wanted to take him for a run again, and decided to try it without his leash this time, just to see what he would do. He stuck right by side again! The faster I ran, the faster he ran! When I veered left or right, he followed – right by my side! It was at the completion of this run that I told him that he would be my boy for life, and it was one of the single greatest decisions I have ever made.
My pledge to Koda is to take him around the world and give him the best life possible. And that is my pledge to our World Playground Members as well. This is why he is the centerpiece of our logo.
I aspire for our company to endure throughout my lifetime, leaving a meaningful legacy in this world. Gazing at his handsome face in our logo will serve as a perpetual reminder of my initial intentions, not only with him but also with our valued Members!
