First time here. Stayed based upon reviews, location, and Marriott status. As an Ambsassor level they treated me very well. I had two rooms. Rooms were very nice. Blackout shades, comfy beds. The suite (we had a corner suite) was amazing. Huge. Hotel is in a great location. Staff were awesome. We had drinks at Tides. Only real issue we had was the rooms were warm. We could not get them below 20 even with the staff telling us they were adjusting them centrally. I just don't think Iceland does anythign cold. The windows DO open and helped maybe just a bit. I would stay again.
We spent the first night of our trip at the Edition. I wanted a quiet location for a good night's sleep. The hotel room was very quiet (we were all the way at the end of the hall, far from the elevators). Very easy to locate the Edition down by the water and near Harpa. We walked from there to Rainbow Street, Hallgrímskirkja church, and some local shops.
We had a terrace king room on the 5th floor, which I requested in advance. Luckily it was a warm afternoon and we got to enjoy the terrace a little bit.
The room was small but had all of the necessities and was immaculately clean. We enjoyed our buffet breakfast before leaving for the rest of our trip.
Just three days after making this multi day booking for our honeymoon, I had to get emergency surgery for a burst appendix and the hotel refused to reschedule our booking and instead kept (more like stole) 100% of the money for the entire trip. No rebooking or even a partial refund. This should be criminal.
They would not have gotten the booking so last second otherwise (they had lots of availability) and there’s no way they need to keep 100% for expenses. Now we can’t reschedule our honeymoon because this property stole our funding for it.
Never give this place a penny. They do not care about you. They just want your money and will take it and provide nothing back at all costs like they did with us. This experience made us hate the idea of traveling to Iceland. Horrible people and business to take from tourists like this.
A top hotel experience for me and my family. We just left The Reykjavik EDITION and I couldn’t wait to write a glowing review about our 5 day stay. The people who work here MADE it outstanding. Demarco, Angel, Igor and John and many other staff members went above and beyond for my family, especially our young son with celiac. I can’t thank them enough for their care.
The hotel is perfectly situated - walkable to shopping, key bus stops and major landmarks. We enjoyed Tides for breakfast every morning. The rooms are very comfortable, large and pristine. Iceland was a dream vacation and I’m grateful for our choice in hotel. Can’t wait to return!
To say that The Edition Hotel in Reykjavik is perfectly located, with views of the harbor where you can see all manner of boats coming and going, and that the hotel is a short walk to restaurants and shops, and a longer, scenic walk to the university, is enough to make me happy.
The building itself pulls you inside. The soft lighting, the elegant furnishing, and the circular fireplace, spare and modern, manage to achieve a particular warmth.
It is a place where a tired traveler can land, be fed a superior meal, soak in a warm pool, be wrapped in a soft robe, and rest in a bed that makes drifting into sleep effortless.
But to say all this without mentioning the kind and thoughtful people who are employed there would be to leave out the very best that The Edition has to offer.
From the moment I arrived, my needs were anticipated and generously met.
Morgan and Lidiana answered my numerous questions and helped me to set up a whale-watching tour (on the fast boat!). Morgan suggested stopping for lobster soup at The Seabaron, and it was as great as he said it would be.
I should mention that this was my first solo trip out of my country. My husband was supposed to join me, but unfortunately, he could not. I came to attend a workshop at the university, and so was a reluctant solo traveler. Morgan and Lidiane were instrumental in my being able to relax, recharge, and rejuvenate.
The Edition has a lovely group of kind and generous souls who make this lovely hotel an ethereal place. The staff celebrated my first solo trip and made it memorable in a way I could never have imagined and will never forget. I have carried their warmth home with me, and my world is better for it.
