Lodge undergoes constructions right now, which makes it less cozy than it looks on the picture (no noise, though). First night was very welcoming - we had an ok dinner and everything was ok. Next day we did a long trip into the Park (we receivded tips of the landlady the night before). When we came back in the evening no dinner was served as we didnt order before 6pm. Understandable if it had been communicated... but annoying as neither us nor the other guests had been made aware. There was help: we had very nice dinner at the Pampa Lodge - would have been nice of our landlady to suggest it... vs. us having to find it.
This house is kind bed and breakfast with several rooms in a house plus camping area in the front yard. I think we were only group that night so we felt like owner. It locates in Villa Rio Serrano in Torres del Paine national park. My room has magnificent view of Torres del Paine, shine like gold when reflecting morning sunlight. Room is big, warm bathroom with heater. Lady owner is super nice. Up the hill near hotel great lookout of Serrano River with Torres del Paine in the background.
This lodge is overpriced for what are very basic hostel facilities. The rooms are tiny and linen/blankets are not provided so you have to borrow a sleeping bag if you don't have your own. There were two working showers for up to 28 people plus staff. Not a good location unless you have a car although the staff will4 give you a lift to the buses at the park entrance around 2 km away if you have a backpack.
On the positive side, the booking and hostel staff were great despite some language limitations plus the food was wholesome and there were good views.
Better options would be to camp in or nearer Torres Del Paine or stay much more cheaply in Puerto Natales and either hire a car or take a bus to and from the park.
The staff do not speak english, which is a big minus. Rooms are cold and a bit small for four people, but you do not stay there to spend time in the bedroom, so the size is not a real problem. Bathrooms are really cold as well and the showers are new but you hardly get to take a hot shower (which you really look forward to after hiking). Breakfast should be organize differently, instead of serving you a bit of ev rushing, it would be way better to have a buffet where guests can choose what they prefer. The boxlunch is really good and well balanced for hiking, but they should check them as the secknd day they gave me one with a rotten peach and inhad to throw all away. However, the place has the best view you can imagine, so astonishing that it makes you forget about the negative aspects.
If you can't book a spot in the campsites and Refugio's, Nash is a great launching point to do day trips into Torres del Paine. It's located close (1km) to laguna amarga which is the first stop for everyone visiting Torres del Paine. The rooms and facilities are new, clean and very comfortable. Meals were included which made it great for tired hikers. The one down side is the inability to cook to save money.
